Restoration
Laliberté-Payment recommends
that the restoration of an organ conform to its original construction, although, subject
to thorough evaluation, it still remains open to the legitimate improvements of modern
organ building. Our guiding principle is authenticity. All other doctrines are vain and
sectarian in nature.
Stages in the restoration process:
| Releathering of all components (reservoirs, etc.) |
| Replacement of pouches, primary valves, and of all
pneumatic and mechanical organ systems |
| Full revoicing and restoration of organ pipes according
to the building principles of the instrument's construction |
| Revarnishing of the case |
| Restoration of the front pipes (painting, motifs, etc.) |
| Electrification and addition of MIDI and computerized
systems |
| Solid state conversion |
| Relocation |
| Addition of stops (new tonal design) |
| Reconstruction with modifications |
